One key element required for long-term planning of wind energy deployment is an assessment of the impact of climate change on wind resources. This report investigates the impact of climate change on future wind resources in the United States. Specifically, two sets of long-range (20-year) regional climate model (RCM) simulations, driven by the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) global climate model (GCM) simulations, were performed in the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) atmospheric modeling system. One set simulates the present climate (1985-2004), while the other set models the future climate (2015-2034).
