This project applied radio frequency (RF) sensing to directly measure multiple gas species adsorbed on catalysts with a single device, and demonstrated engine efficiency and cost benefits via adaptive feedback controls not possible with current sensors. Completion of this project has overcome key emissions control barriers identified by DOE, and will enable increased market penetration of highly efficient dilute gasoline, clean diesel, and low-temperature combustion engines. The outcomes have broad implications for future VTO Multi-Year Program Plans and, more importantly, tangible efficiency and commercial benefits.
